Checking out some small-fry

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

There was a surprise discovery for me this morning! On my way to work in the Aquarium Shop I stopped to have a quick look at the seahorses….and guess what, I found some tiny little babies in the tank too. They’re only about 6mm long! In fact they’re so small that it took me a while to convince everyone that I wasn’t making it up!

Now the whole of the Aquarium staff can’t resist playing ‘spot the baby seahorse’ when passing the tank!

Vernon takes a break from the Rovers Return

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

It’s been an eventful day in the Aquarium today. I couldn’t believe it when Vernon from Coronation Street walked past me! It certainly caused a stir. Although I have to admit that many of the displays staff had rather blank faces – Bruce doesn’t own a television so he wouldn’t know him!

What with Vernon today and Michaela Strachen last month– it’s all go!

Early Morning Adventure

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

An early start this morning, Warren and I headed off to Chester Zoo to collect 10 common seahorses and 3 baby freshwater stingrays. They’d been bred by the Zoo team and were kindly donated to the Lakes Aquarium. It was a long morning, but all new arrivals made it back safe and sound by lunchtime!

The seahorses are settling in to their new home in the Morecambe Bay displays and as for the baby rays they are sharing a home with some black widow tetres in the South America area.

Win an Oscar

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Hey kids I challenge you to take part in my quiz trail – I know that you will never be as smart as me but why not grab a pencil and quiz sheet from reception and have a go.

If you return your quiz sheet to the nice lady in the shop then you could win a badge, with a picture of the best looking otter in town. Yes you guessed it, it’s me!!

Come along and have a go!
