Today my team and I went out on a field trip to help South Lakes Rivers Trust carry out fish population surveys for the river Ea. The trip involved electro fishing, this is done by passing a small current through the water to harmlessly stun the fish allowing capture in a net.

A large selection of fish were caught including bullhead, trout, eels, lampreys, salmon, sticklebacks and flounder. These results will then be compared to results gained from a survey carried out in 1994 and will help to evaluate the current condition of the river system.

What a fantastic day for the football fans at Lakes Aquarium this weekend!

We had a star studded visit from Rio Ferdinand and his family this weekend and it took a lot of will power for the staff to refrain from racing after him clutching their autograph books.

I'm sure he will go home and tell all his team mates that we are worth a visit.

All staff are keeping an eye out for Wayne Rooney or Paul Scholes!!
