See who has just hopped in!

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

It has been an exciting few days for many of the aquarium creatures, as new tanks are being built and many are moving house. The caiman has upgraded his tank for a much more upmarket and larger tank complete with sun deck and swimming pool.

We have also welcomed some new arrivals and once the mudskippers were relocated a Sapo Dorado toad was fast to fill their space. This toad looks to be a firm favourite, one of our Aquarists was quick to tell me he preferred to call him Alan the Amphibian. I'm not sure this is a name commonly used in the Americas but he doesn't seem to mind.

Meet the new arrival!

Lakes Aquarium got a very unusual Christmas
present this year of a Red tailed catfish.

The catfish was kindly donated by a family in Barrow as he had outgrown
his tank and was in need of some more room to swim! He is settling in
nicely and has some new friends in the aquariums Americas section.

He has fast become my favourite fish in the aquarium and looks like he
will be a real character!
