The Lake Room is available to hire for use as a classroom or as a lunch room for only £10.00 (1 hour hire). Please note this is on a room hire only basis. Packed lunches can be arranged at an additional cost, please ask when booking.
Guided Tours
We recommend that all education groups choose to take up the offer of a free guided tour. This will further enhance your trip and really bring the visit to life! Tours are suitable for all ages and abilities as the tour guide will adapt the style and content to fulfil the individual needs of the group. A tour for pre-school children might include extracts from a relevant story (i.e. The Fish That Could Wish), tours for Key Stage 2 pupils might include information on the water cycle and habitats whilst GNVQ students might like to learn more about our customer service policies.
Please discuss the requirements of your group with our Education Co-ordinator when booking your visit.
The advised maximum group size for a guided tour is 25 children. Larger groups will be divided into more manageable numbers for guided tours. We recommend that you allow at least one to one and a half hours for your visit. Please also allow further time for your pupils to experience the Virtual Dive Bell and to browse in the gift shops.
Special Combined Tours
Lakes Aquarium has joined with other popular attractions in the Lake District to bring your group great value days out. If you wish to complement your visit to the Aquarium with a visit to another local attraction, you can benefit from our combined tours based on and around Lake Windermere.
1. Lakeland Medley
Combine your visit to the Lakes Aquarium with a visit to the World of the Beatrix Potter™ Attraction in Bowness, and a 40 minute half lake, single cruise on Windermere (Bowness – Lakeside). This tour can start at either the Lakes Aquarium or the World of Beatrix Potter – available all year, excluding January.

2. Lakeside Spectacular
A very popular tour! Enjoy a single trip on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway, a visit to the Aquarium and a 40 minute half lake, single cruise on Windermere (Bowness – Lakeside) – available Easter to October.

3. Fish, Ferries and Fell Foot Park
A visit to the Lakes Aquarium, a short return trip on the foot ferry from Lakeside to Fell Foot and time in the grounds of the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park. The park offers adventure playground and plenty of open space for picnics and games – available Easter to October.
